About the study – Phase 4 (2016-2023)
The fourth phase of QLSCD included data collection rounds in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023. Aligning with the three previous phases, Phase 4 aimed to follow young people as they transitioned to adulthood, from the ages of 19 to 25.
The information collected during the fourth phase of the study will be used to keep measuring multiple aspects of social adjustment and well-being in young adults. New realities experienced in early adulthood will be examined, such as work, studies, relationships with parents and friends, romantic relationships, finances, lifestyle habits, career choices, and health and well-being. From this phase on, the young participants become the only respondents.
Funding for the study comes from the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation, the Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en sécurité du travail, the Ministère de la Famille, the Ministère de l’Éducation, the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur, the Ministère de l’Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale, and the Institut de la statistique du Québec.
Once Phase 4 is complete, we will be able to make connections between the lives of young adults and the data collected in childhood. For example, it will become possible to measure the expected impacts in young adults of certain risk or protective factors identified in early childhood.
